The strictly by invitation gathering had in attendance football superstars including Emmanuel Adebayor, Kolo Toure and Michael Essien, as well as singer May7ven, comedian Eddie Kadi, video director Moe Musa and media personality Adesope Olajide.

Funmi Iyanda‘s “Change A Life” show is a must see on New Year’s Day.

On Wednesday 1st January 2014, viewers will see the anchor of the annual show sit down with the Lagos state Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola on the NTA network from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.

The Change A Life (CAL) show which airs every 1st of January, involves discussions on topical issues with celebrities sharing their thoughts.

This year, music superstar D’banj, media personalities Toolz and Matse Uwatse as well as fashion designer/critic Emmy Collins, will all join in the conversation.

Their discussion will be a fusion of issues peculiar to women in the society. It includes welfare of the girl child, girl child marriages, and increase in the rate of sexual abuse.

The Governor will also be made to speak on the new Lagos state law protecting women from domestic violence and health problems women encounter.

As with every episode, deserving Nigerians will be honoured. The Remi Lagos Award for Excellence will be given to Umoh Uwana, CAL’s most outstanding holistic educational scholarship beneficiary for 2013, while the Hero of the Year award will be given to an incredible individual to be announced on the D-Day.

For sometime now, people have been talking about how Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson bleached her skin to look light-skinned.

Contrary to this report, the actress has maintained that she doesn't use skin lightening products.

However, Yvonne Nelson has been featured on the list of 15 black celebrities suspected to be bleaching their skin, put together by a US website Atlanta Blackstar.

Other celebs on the list include dancehall singer Vybz Kartel, rapper Lil Kim, actress Halle Berry, singer Tamar Braxton, fashion icon Imam Abdulmajid.

Fathia Balogun Removes “Balogun” From Instagram Username, Changes To “Williams”

In case you don’t know yet, there’s been a long battle between former couple, Fathia and Saheed Balogun with the latter requesting that the former stopped using his name since their divorce. Click {here} {here} and {here} for details. It looks like Saheed might have won the battle in court with Fathia taking off “Balogun” from her Instagram page over the weekend. The Nollywood actress now bask in @fathiawilliams on Instagram.

There’s no official words if Saheed indeed won the case or Fathia dropped the name willingly, it is also not known if future movies starring the actress will cast her as Fathia Williams and not Balogun

I am a big time lover of Nigerian Music from the days of Kennis Music’s domination, Remedies, Plantashun boiz et al; and it is a good thing to have you “Ayo Animashaun” introduce the “Hip Hop World Award” now known as the “Headies”.

The introduction of the award in 2006 was a good idea I must say, the presence of a new platform to showcase the hard work of Nigerian Artistes was a welcome idea, as well as its development and improvement since then.

The past awards have been credible or let’s just say close to perfect with little errors. Coming down to HEADIES 2013, the errors this year CANNOT be waived. Needless to say they were noticeable and cannot be IGNORED. Everyone loves a good show, and value for money spent on tickets, plus Nigerians that supported by watching on television.

Everybody had something to say, but this is what my humble self noticed and I have to say:

How Jesus Christ made me Governor after 10 months of prayer and fasting – Amaechi

 While addressing mass at Saint Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Port Hacourt on Christmas Day, Rivers State Governor and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors’ Forum, Rotimi Amaechi, urged people to ignore claims that some politicians installed him as the governor of the state.

He stated clearly, that he was installed by Jesus Christ, because he fasted and prayed for 10 months before he became the governor.

Amaechi said: “As a government led by me, a government installed by Christ, if anybody tells you he installed me, tell him it is a lie. Tell him that I said I prayed for 10 months and I fasted from 6am to 6pm, calling on Christ to come down and Christ came down mightily and installed me as governor.
